What Is PayPal?
- The Association for Gnotobiotics has decided to use PayPal (www.paypal.com)
to accept online payments at no cost to its members. PayPal allows anyone who
signs up for a Personal PayPal Account to be able to send payments via credit card
or check over the internet. Membership is completely free.
PayPal Security
- PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from
your computer to PayPal's using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol with an
encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).
Before you register or login to the PayPal site, their server checks that you are
using an approved browser - one that uses SSL 3.0 or higher.
- Once your information reaches PayPal, it resides on a server that is heavily
guarded both physically and electronically. Their servers sit behind an electronic
firewall and are not directly connected to the internet, so your private
information is available only to authorized computers.

- Your account is automatically insured up to $100,000.
Paying By Credit Card
- Pay dues, registration, or any other Association for Gnotobiotics fees by
Visa or Mastercard. When you decide to pay the AG by credit card, PayPal will
deduct the amount from your credit card for no additional fee. For example, if you
are paying $30.00 Professional dues, your credit card will only be deducted in the
amount of $30.00.
Paying By PayPal Check
- As a member, PayPal gives you the option to add funds to your PayPal Account
from your checking account for no additional fee. You may transfer any amount you
choose. It is not mandatory to add funds unless you would like to pay the
Association for Gnotobiotics by "check" without having to mail a check. You will
be able to find all of the information you need about adding funds in your PayPal
Account Center.
- If you prefer not to pay by credit card, but do not want to mail a check, then
transferring funds into your PayPal account is a great alternative. There is no
additional fee if you choose to pay the AG with a PayPal check.
What PayPal Means For You
- By becoming a member of PayPal, you will only have to enter your credit card
information once (the first time you send a payment to the AG through PayPal).
- Having your own PayPal account means that you will be able to verify and
track every payment you make to the AG using a credit card or PayPal check. If you
can't remember if you have paid your dues, all you have to do is log in to your
PayPal Account Center and view your Payment History. Your Payment History shows
you the date, amount, and description of all payments made through PayPal.
- Since you only need to use PayPal to make payments on the AG web site, you are
not required to use any other PayPal service.
